Coach Sewnet upbeat despite Getaneh’s absence

Coach Sewnet Bishaw says Ethiopia will overcome the loss of striker Getaneh Kebede who has been ruled out of Sunday’s World Cup playoff against Nigeria due to a nagging ankle injury.

Bishaw empathized with the injured striker but alluded to the fact they will have to move on as they prepare against the African champions.

He added that he had changed his training regime to once a day to avoid fatigue on the players.

“We have lost a good player in Getaneh Kebede but as a team we have to move on. I got the information he could not make it as the nagging injury failed to heal time. We wish him quick recovery and I will look for an alternative as we have plenty in the squad who are capable.”

“I have now changed my tactics and the team is now training once a day. I don’t really want the players to be fatigued since we will be playing Nigeria who have hugely build players and we want to ensure all the players are in great shape. We know Nigeria can be physical but we will use our main strength of letting the players enjoy the game,” Bishaw told supersport.com in Addis Ababa.
