French Minister in Ethiopia

In preparation for the Paris Conference on climate change to be held in December this year, the French State Minister for Development and Francophonie, Annick Girardin is visiting three East African countries including Ethiopia this week. In her visit the Minister is meeting with local authorities and representatives of civil society, NGOs, companies, and local government.

 
She and her interlocutors will also review national contributions, preparations for the Addis Ababa conference on development financing in July, the sharing of sustainable development technologies, and will inspect South African solutions for confronting climate change. In Ethiopia, Ms. Girardin visited the Ashegoda wind farm, which is financed by the French Development Agency.

 
With the Ethiopian Environment and Forestry Minister Belete Tafere, she opened the “En Route to Paris” conference. She also addressed the Student Climate Forum in Addis Ababa and met with Erastus Mwencha, vice president of the African Union commission.
