Addis Abeba- Selam Ethiopia on Thursday December 11, 2014 unveiled its initial line up artists for the forth coming Selam Festival; Addis (SFA). The fourth edition of Selam Festival Addis (SFA) will take place from January 17 to January 18, 2015 at the Floral Tropical Gardens in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

SFA prides itself on bringing an eclectic line up of musicians from Ethiopia, Africa, Europe and beyond to entertain the public and also allowing companies opportunities to show their support for the creative arts.

Speaking at the press conference Teshome Wondimu, Founder and Director of Selam, noted that SFA, which is Selam’s flagship event, is geared toward increasing Ethiopia’s capacity in hosting major festivals.

“We see Selam Festival Addis as growing to become the largest festival in Africa. Besides entertaining music lovers the festival is geared towards raising capacities, provide expert exchange, open forums for discussions and also allow opportunities for collaborations at various forums”, said Teshome Wondimu.

Jan Sadek, Swedish Ambassador to Ethiopia, for his part noted that the SFA is part of a broader bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Swedan whish he said is a testament of the long years of relations between the two nations.

Among the local talents that will perfom include Samuel Yirga, Micheal Belayneh, Abel Mulugeta, Helen Berhe, Tsegaye Eshetu, Tadele Gemechu, Circus Ethiopia and others.

Talents that will grace the stage from abroad include Habib Koité (Mali), Spoek Mathambo (South Africa), Gnučči (Sweden), Mapei (Sweden), Jemimah Sanyu (Uganda), Sarabi (Kenya), Lexxus Legal (DRC).

With two days of music on two stages including a children’s program, SFA estimates some 10,000, people will converge at the two day festival. The festival will also include an interactive kids zone, two stages of music, food and craft /artisan vendors, information booths, Circus shows, DJ party, traditional group dance from selected regions and much more.
