Addis Abeba – The Federal government of Ethiopia and the Netherlands has announced that they have endorsed the launching of a “groundbreaking private sector water management initiative” to improve water management for over 10 million people in the metropolitan area of Addis Ababa.

The initiative which will be carried out through Nedamco Africa, a climate tech company, is aimed to reduce non-revenue water, increase water quality, and improve access to water by leveraging digital technology, according to the company.

“The solution will measure, report, and verify the outcomes of water management using digital twins in a fully digital and transparent manner,” it is stated.

The project is planned to be handled in collaboration between the Ethiopian local and federal government, Microsoft, Bentley Systems, VEI, and is endorsed by the Dutch Government. AS
