Sidra Hotel joins Addis’s hotel industry

Sidra hotel, a new four star hotel, joins the hotel industry in Addis Ababa on Saturday June 28th, 2013.

The hotel that went operational over the weekend specializes on hotel and Spa services with 26 hotel rooms including 1 presidential suit along with a whole floor of spa services on a 6 story building, according to its owner Yonas Hagos. Built at a cost of 41 million birr, Sidra hotel has created job opportunities for 85 people.

“Improving the service provision is our main target” says Yonas, adding regular training is provided for the employees depending on their positions and responsibilities at the hotel. “Hotels in Addis are mostly owned and run by older people and I have always wanted to change that” says Yonas who is in his mid-30s. Yonas is also involved in importing mobile phone accessories to the country.

The hotel currently has two bars, two restaurants, a full-fledged spa service and parking area that accommodate 20 cars.

Sidra hotel plans to build additional rooms, swimming pool, tennis courts, cultural restaurants that promote Ethiopian traditions for visitors and additional parking area, according to Yonas.
