Addis Abeba, September 16/2019 – The French government will bestow The Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (The French National Order of Arts and Letters) on prominent musician and the father of Ethiopian Jazz, Mulatu Astatke, French embassy in Addis Abeba said.
This will be done during the visit of French Minister of Culture, Franck Riester in Ethiopia on the 18th and 19th of September 2019. Mr Riester’s visit is for “a follow-up of the cultural and heritage partnerships initiated between our two countries by President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed,” the statement from the embassy said.
This will be done during the visit of French Minister of Culture, Franck Riester in Ethiopia on the 18th and 19th of September 2019
During his visit the minister will meet with high level government officials and with the Lalibela and National Palace projects’ stakeholders. He will also “inaugurate the exhibition: “20 years of Ethiopian contemporary painting” at the Alliance Ethio-Française of Addis-Abeba.” AS
